Dr Alan J Miller is a male General Dentist.
Alan graduated from the dental school of the University of Pretoria in 1985, and was the first recipient of the OralB® medal for outstanding achievement in the field of dental materials. Alan also had the honour of presenting a paper he co-authored at the 1985 International Congress of the IADR (International Association of Dental Research) held in Pretoria.
After completing three years’ service in the South African Medical Corps as a Captain, Alan had a private dental practice in Pietermaritzburg, his birth town, for nine years. He immigrated to New Zealand in 1999 and ran his private practice in Hamilton for 13 years before moving his practice to join the team at Chartwell Dental Centre.
Alan enjoys cosmetic and restorative dentistry and endodontics (root canal treatments). Always one to keep up with modern technology Alan now uses a dental microscope and has a special interest in soft tissue laser use and ‘same day’ computer designed and milled ceramic dental restorations using the E4D system.
Alan is the proud father of two children, a son and a daughter. In his spare time he enjoys dancing, cycling and flying gliders at the Piako Gliding Club.
He is also a member of the New Zealand Dental Association, NZ Endodontic Society and NZ Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and has dental laser use certification from the University of Queensland. Alan is a past Secretary of the Waikato Bay of Plenty Branch of the NZDA and currently still serves on the Executive as Branch Advisory Officer and maintains the Branch’s membership database.
