David decided to become an orthodontist after receiving orthodontic treatment himself during his high school years. He realised the huge difference that orthodontic treatment made to his smile and now he enjoys doing the same for his patients. David completed his secondary education at Manurewa High School in South Auckland. In 1999, he graduated with a Bachelor Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Otago and commenced work at Auckland hospital the following year as a dental house surgeon. After leaving the hospital he worked for four years as a dentist in private practice.In 2006, he starting training to become a specialist orthodontist and completed his Clinical Doctorate in Orthodontics at Otago University in 2008. To ensure that his training met international standards, he voluntarily completed a series of examination in orthodontics held by the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons and the College of Surgeon Edinburgh. Mark and David have both gained membership to these colleges. David is also a committee member on the New Zealand Orthodontic Association (NZAO) Executive. David lives on Auckland’s North Shore with his wife and three children. He keeps fit by attending the local gym. He tries his best to reduce his carbon foot print by travelling to work on his Vespa.
