BOH (Otago), Oral Health Therapist
Ms Marija Lovric is a female Oral Health Therapist.
I have been part of the dental world for the last 10 years, first as a dental assistant and now as a Bachelor of Oral Health graduate. My passion for helping people led me to study at Otago University, where I graduated in 2012 with a BOH degree. I have been based in Wellington since graduation, doing a stint at Hutt Valley DHB as a dental therapist. During my time in Otago I was lucky enough to be involved in dental research with Dr Nick Heng, which awarded me a Matched Summer research scholarship, and in my final year I was awarded the Annette King award for the highest grade point average in dental hygiene.
The best thing about my job is I get to work with my patients to achieve overall health and wellbeing though helping them take care of their mouth. This involves me working closely with them to motivate, educate and treat their gum disease so they can smile and do the things we take for granted: eat, communicate and nourish themselves. I am a great believer in preventative dentistry and I like to keep myself up to date with the latest research and best practice. It is important to me that my patients feel safe and comfortable during their visit and I will work with them to alleviate any dental fears they may have. Everyone deserves to have a good smile and my goal is to help them get there :).
